On Time Equals Late
Always arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. On-time equals late, especially if you are meeting at a restaurant. Remember that your time is not nearly as valuable as the interviewer’s time. Also, you should be seated as the person approaches you and then rise to greet the person (with a firm handshake). If you need to use the bathroom, do so prior to your interview. I had one candidate require the use of a bathroom three times in a one-hour interview and who then indicated to me that he was very appreciative of the fact that we offered to pay for 100% of employee’s health benefits. I didn’t offer the person a job out of fear that my premiums would rise!
